Governance & quality

Most providers treat governance as a burden. We treat it as the point.

Whether you are a family deciding who to trust, or a commissioner doing due diligence, this page lets you look under the bonnet. Every claim is evidenced — and the evidence is yours to see on request.

Independently accredited

Three external bodies, not one

Most care providers hold a single registration. We hold three independent accreditations — and maintain them continuously, not just at audit time.

CQC — rated Good

Care Quality Commission · personal care / domiciliary

The CQC is the government’s independent regulator. They come in, look at the real care — not a brochure — and rate it. We are rated Good. For your family, it means someone outside this company has checked that the support is safe, effective and caring. Vierka Hiscock is personally accountable as Registered Manager and Nominated Individual.

ISO 9001:2015

Quality Management · cert 282832018 · valid to 07/05/2028 · held since 2018, re-audited annually

Uncommon for a home-care provider. It means an external auditor checks every year that the quality of our care does not depend on one person remembering — it is written down, followed, measured and improved. So the support your relative receives stays consistent whoever is on shift, and gets better over time rather than slipping.

ISO 45001:2018

Health & Safety · cert 374412021 · valid to 01/07/2028 · held since 2018, re-audited annually

Rarer still in our sector. This is the international standard for keeping people safe from harm — both the people we support and the staff who support them. An independent auditor checks each year that we spot risks before they become incidents. For your family, safety is not left to chance: someone outside the company signs it off.

How the standard is held in place

The systems behind the care

Quality is not a document we write once a year. It is held in live systems, used every day.

Compliance & quality statementsCitation Quiqcare — our live compliance platform. Quality statements are reviewed and re-evidenced continuously, not the day before an inspection.
Care planning & recordsNourish — digital care planning, rota and call records, so the knowledge about each person is current, shared and never lost.
HR & policiesCitation — HR, employment and policy framework keeping safer recruitment, training and supervision consistent across the team.
InsuranceMarsh Commercial — full commercial insurance cover.
SafeguardingMember of the South Gloucestershire Adult Strategic Safeguarding Board. Every safeguarding referral is read by the Director personally.

How our governance works in practice

Evidence-led, director-owned

Continuous evidence collection

Evidence is gathered and reviewed throughout the year via Citation Quiqcare — so our compliance position is always live, not reconstructed before an audit.

Director-level oversight

Safeguarding referrals, contracts and significant decisions are seen and signed at director level. Accountability is never diffused into a process.

Compliance expertise others rely on

The same regulatory knowledge that runs our own service also underpins Hiscock & Co, a sister consultancy that helps other care providers meet CQC and ISO standards.

Safer recruitment & training

DBS checks, structured training and regular supervision for every member of staff — recorded and monitored.

Audit & learning loops

Regular internal audit, with findings fed back into practice. We treat incidents and feedback as information, not threats.

No agency workers

We do not staff through agencies. Everyone supporting a person is our own, trained, vetted and known to us.

Clear escalation

Defined safeguarding, incident and escalation routes mean concerns are gripped early by people who can act.
